The golden district of Paris

Romantic, festive, trendy, the Marais seduces with its cobbled streets, its historic places, its small shops and its picturesque buildings. Located in Paris Center, this district neighborhood is built on ancient swamps from which it takes its name. Popular with walkers and Parisians, it invites relaxation and shopping!

Many private mansions built in the 17th century are recognizable by their carved white cut stones and their large porches intended to let past horse-drawn carriages. Some of them are even classified historic monuments ! Among the most remarkable: the hotels or Soubise, or the particularly majestic Hotel Salé, which will have seen the writer Honoré de Balzac pass on its benches and which today hosts the famous Picasso museum.

The City Hall with its grandiose architecture whose forecourt hosts many events throughout the year is the heart of the district. A little further, the romantic Place des Vosges, built during the Renaissance, is the oldest place in Paris. A veritable little green square surrounded by brick buildings, it has been the home of many personalities such as Victor Hugo, Madame de Sévigné and even Colette. Here, the treasures are numerous and are revealed during a walk on every street corner!

From the Haut Marais to the banks of the Seine, this charming district offers a real dive into the heart of Parisian history from another time!
