The remains of an ancient Italian city who became French

Old Nice is more than the historic district of the city; it is also one of the tourist sites of Nice. Located to the west of Nice Port, Old Nice is a city of narrow streets dotted by cultural arteries, shopping opportunities and restaurants that create the ideal place for a sightseeing tour, or for shopping good for a gastronomic experience.

Old town, the name given to Old Nice by the locals, is full of attractions: religious buildings, museums and galleries, squares and pedestrian areas. Until the 1960s, the area retained most of its medieval touch, but over time it has been transformed to meet the needs of contemporary tourism.

Located next to the Promenade des Anglais, this representative area of the history of the French Riviera, it is not in vain that companies that organize trips by bus or walking tours in Nice give priority to the historic district of the city, essential for tourists to create an adequate and accomplished image of Nice.

The very traditional heart of old Nice is Cours Saleya. The place is astonishing with its colorful markets which mark the memories of all tourists who are curious enough for them to embark on the examination and tasting of local products from Nice.

But there are also some notable religious buildings which can complete the tourist excursion in Old Nice and its surroundings such as the Cathedral of Sainte Reparate, the historic churches of Sainte Rita or even the chapel of Mercy.

Castle Park located on the Castle Hill to the east of Old Nice is an excellent observation point which secures unsuspected vistas. And that, of course, apart from its interior strengths. The western part of the district is brilliantly marked by the Place Massena and another major square and a jewel of neoclassical Nice legacy is the Place du Palais de Justice.

Nice crowned by its old town is virtually the capital of the French Riviera!
