A world architectural heritage
Architectural complex retracing the development of 17th century architecture. and from the 18th century. With the gardens, the national domain is one of the most famous monuments in the world: the royal apartments, the Hall of Mirrors, the Chapel, the Royal Opera and the Museum of the History of France.
The magnificence of the park decorated with statues, fountains and flowerbeds and exceptional buildings (Grand Trianon, Petit Trianon, Temple of Love, Hamlet of Queen Marie-Antoinette) representing the French know-how of landscapers the mornarchy, with the famous French gardens.
In the 1670s, Louis XIV notably had the King and Queen's Grand Apartments fitted out. The most emblematic achievement of these spaces, parade and reception remains the Hall of Mirrors designed by Mansart. In the following century, enlargements continued, notably with the construction of the Chapel and the Opera. The Château now has 63,154 m2 divided into 2,300 rooms.
